Trail Access Campaign Members,

You will be happy to hear that we have reached over 110 members! This is an amazing achievement from an all volunteer effort and we would like to thank the time and effort from the volunteers that made this possible! Keep spreading the word, this affects our entire community!

As many of you know we have a donation page now. We also have a prospectus for the Cherry Road Trail which can viewed HERE. Thank you Stan for your work (and Idealist Consulting for you support with design). This is where the rubber hits the road and we are well on way to a new trail!

We have had a number of inquiries about Cherry Trails progress, and while we are all set to break ground we are awaiting official approval from the City of Manzanita.  In a nutshell the City has endorsed the effort to build the trail but has not provided the process for official approval.  We suspect to hear their requirements sometime next month.  We plan to publish those requirements as soon as they are articulated.

It is important to note there has been some concern regarding the proposed Cherry Trail location by select property owners living adjacent to the projected location. We have taken painstaking steps to ensure the trail is built safely and meets all the stipulations provided by the City of Manzanita, Tillamook County and the State of Oregon. Most importantly, it leverages a city right of way (Originally intended for a public road) and does not cross any private property whatsoever. The footprint will be minimal and provide both beach access and the fastest escape route in Manzanita in the event of a tsunami. Once again, the plans can be referenced HERE.

Doris Davis trail efforts are underway as well. The property owners have been notified (through legal counsel) their infringements on the community and we are awaiting their reply. We suspect next steps will reveal themselves this month and will keep you informed on our progress.

All the best and stay healthy!
