The Trail Access Campaign believes that all of our access to the beach should be restored. This means beach access on the north side of Classic Ridge (AKA Doris Davis Trail), as well as south side access of Classic Ridge over the dune (AKA Cherry Trail). It is important to note that each of these initiatives have different goals, different volunteer teams, and a different budget. In the interest of providing our subscribers with a 360 degree view of our efforts we will be providing updates on both projects covering the general plan along with how you can contribute.
Doris Davis Trail
We are presently formalizing steps to take in order to ensure we have access. We hope to have that plan available to share soon and we appreciate your patience. The process is a legal one which requires thoughtful engagement with multiple considerations. If you are interested in getting involved click HERE and if you would like to donate toward the project you may do so HERE. Any support is greatly appreciated.
The Doris Davis trail will be primarily funded by the Classic Ridge community at large. Unlike the Cherry Trail which has a fixed budget, the Doris Davis trail is a flexible fund designed to recognize the administrative efforts needed to get access such as legal counsel. It will be our goal to establish a target budget to share with our subscribers in the coming weeks. Donations to that fund that effort CLICK HERE.
Cherry Trail (The Dune)
As some of you know the Cherry Trail has made significant progress. The new trail designers recently presented to the city council, YOU CAN REVIEW A GLIDE SHOW OF THE PROPOSAL HERE (thank you Idealist Consulting for the design!) And a special thanks to Stan and those who supported him (Trailkeepers of Oregon) for all the hard work toward producing the documentation for review by the city. It is important to note that it was one of the largest audiences this year for a city council meeting and much of that was due to the attendance by our Trail Access Campaign subscribers. That said, The Trail Access Campaign would like to thank our 100 plus subscribers for their support as well!
After some brief deliberation the city decided to consider the proposal. However before they stamped its approval they wanted to ensure “all t’s were crossed and i’s were dotted.” We are confident that the OFFICIAL PROPOSAL will address those concerns leading to the city’s approval. We are assembling a crew of volunteers to build the trail once it is approved. If you are interested in getting your hands dirty please visit our get involved page on our website.
The “Cherry Trail” will be funded by families and businesses (we are in talks with five businesses interested in supporting the effort). If you are interested in learning about how you or a family member can sponsor the trail development CHECK OUR THIS GLIDE SHOW. If you already know what you need to know, you make a direct contribution through our donation page CLICK HERE.
Once again thank you for your support!
